Services Sample Apologies The Process Our Standards About Contact

Our Standards

Every apology we draft meets the following standards. These are non-negotiable.

Structural Completeness

Every apology contains all three components of a formal apology: acknowledgment, expression of regret, and commitment to future behavior. An apology missing any component is not an apology; it is a statement. We do not deliver statements when apologies are requested.

Admission Calibration

The level of admission in the apology is calibrated to the client's situation and instructions. We can draft apologies ranging from full acknowledgment of specific wrongdoing to the acknowledgment of nothing more than the fact that events occurred. The default is the latter. Clients who want full acknowledgment must request it explicitly and confirm that they understand what they are asking for.

Legal Review

All corporate apologies are reviewed by our legal team before delivery. We ensure that no sentence creates liability that the client has not explicitly accepted. Our legal team has never blocked a Non-Apology Apology. They have blocked three Corporate Apologies in our history. In all three cases, the client had accidentally drafted something sincere.

Tone Consistency

The tone of the apology matches the context. A corporate apology reads like a corporate apology. A personal apology reads like a personal apology. We do not produce apologies that feel drafted. This is technically difficult given that they are drafted. We consider it our primary craft challenge.
